Brady Johnson has resided in Vero Beach since 1999, when he began his first tenure as Organist of Trinity Church. After 17 years serving at Christ Church Vero Beach, it is an honor to be offered the opportunity to preside at the Treasure Coast’s finest pipe organ for a second time in 2025.

Brady is a native of Kalamazoo, Michigan, where he was surrounded by pianos, his father being a piano tuner and builder. He was immersed in the great musical heritage of Anglicanism, singing for six years as a treble in the cathedral-styled men and boys’ choir of St. Luke’s Church in his hometown. He studied piano with his Choirmaster, George Norman Tucker, who also included Brady in organ tuning and repairs. Brady began studying the organ as a student with Robert Murphy at the Interlochen (MI) Arts Academy, as well as piano with Gary Kirkpatrick. In 1975, he matriculated at The University of Michigan, where he received the unique opportunity of being chosen by the legendary concert organist, Marilyn Mason, to be in her studio as a freshman. Brady received his B.Mus and M.Mus degrees in organ performance from Michigan. He also received additional studies at The Royal School of Church Music.

Brady has served as musician in seven different Episcopal parishes in five states. He has performed organ recitals in the Midwest, Northeast, Florida, as well as in Canada and the UK, where this past summer he performed on the famous Father Willis organ in Truro Cathedral. Brady as also composed several hymn arrangements for brass and organ, as well as choral anthems. He is on the board of the Treasure Coast Chapter of the American Guild of Organists, and is a member of the Association of Anglican Musicians.

Brady is married to Dana, parish secretary and soprano section leader at St. Augustine of Canterbury Church in Vero and is proud father of Emma, a film maker in Los Angeles, and Lydia, a server in the hospitality industry in Chicago.
